Segment Trim and Split
Most segments uploaded to Spooler will be ready to add to an edition and be published. However, Spooler includes a couple of edit features that allow you to make further changes to a segment even after it's been uploaded.
Trim
If an uploaded segment contains unwanted content, choose Trim to remove audio from its beginning, end, or middle.
- From the segment's edit page, choose "Trim Audio." The Trim page displays a waveform of the segment's audio.
- Move the sliders in, from the beginning or end of the segment, to set trim points.
- Optionally, click the "Add Trim" button to add an additional internal trim section, which will also be removed from the final audio.
- Use the Zoom Out/In buttons (or your keyboard's arrow up/down keys) to precisely set trim locations.
- The Play button (or keyboard spacebar) allows you to preview the trimmed segment.
- When your trim points are complete, click the "Next" button to create your edited segment.
- Spooler will render a trimmed version of the segment as a new version. For especially long segments, this process may take several seconds.
- To revert back to the original, untrimmed, segment, delete the new version from the bottom of the segment's edit page.
Split
Use Split to break a single long segment into several individual segments. After splitting the segment, the original one remains, and new segments are created from each split.
- Choose "Split Audio" from the segment's edit page. The Split page displays a waveform of the segment's audio. For especially long segments, the waveform may take a few seconds to appear.
- Choose "Add Split" to add a new segmented split, or use I/O keys to set the split's in and out points.
- Use the Zoom Out/In buttons (or your keyboard's arrow up/down keys) to precisely set split start and end locations.
- Use the Play/Pause button or keyboard spacebar to preview your split points.
- You may add as many splits to the segment as you wish.
- Once your splits are set, click "Split It" and Spooler will create a new segment from each split.
- Segments will appear in in your library as soon as they have finished rendering. Note that the segment titles will derive from the original segment, so you may wish to change the titles to something more helpfully descriptive.
