Publishing Your Edition

Once the edition is ready to go, publish it to make it available to listeners. You can publish your show in a few ways.

Publish via Spooler

The easiest way to publish your show is to use Spooler's built-in RSS and content hosting service. From your edition's Edit page, select "Published" as its Status and click "Update Edition." Your new edition will begin generating immediately, and when the file is ready will be published.

Note that you can also schedule an edition for future publication by choosing "Scheduled" and specifying the future date and time of the edition's release.

Evergreen Editions

Publishers who use Spooler's built-in RSS feed to host content have a choice for how older editions are handled in Spooler. By default, when a new edition is published, an edition which had been the most recent is Archived and removed from the feed. For news-focused publishers, this is a great way to ensure only the freshest content, ie. your new edition, is what your listeners get.

However, you may wish to make older editions available to subscribers as episodes in their podcast feed. In that case, change the older edition's status to Evergreen. Evergreen editions will remain in the show's RSS feed, just like the older episodes of any podcast. Those older editions can be accessed and re-ordered via the Evergreen tab on the brief's Editions page.

Publish to Shows Hosted Elsewhere

For publishers who host their shows using a third-party service with whom Spooler has an automated publishing channel, the edition can be published directly to the feed hosted elsewhere. From the edition's Edit or Playlist page, simply choose "Publish to …", and your edition will be generated and sent to the third party host feed.

See the Export to Other Platforms page for further detail.

Export as MP3

Once an edition has been generated, it's easy to export the finished file as an MP3. Simply choose "Download MP3" from the editions Edit or Player pages, and the finished edition download will begin.
